The Retrofit Scotland team have recently been out and about, exhibiting at conferences to spread the word about refurbishment best practice. Firstly, was the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre Conference & Industry Showcase at the Glasgow Hilton on 13th September. The Conference focused on four key themes:

  • Differentiating through Innovation (in Business, Products, Processes and Services)
  • Transforming Productivity
  • Digitisation & BIM
  • Evolving the Culture of Construction.

These themes were explored through a series of presentations and workshop sessions throughout the day. There was also an extensive exhibition, which Retrofit Scotland took part in. Delegates were able to tour the exhibition stands at morning registration, during breaks, over lunch and as part of a drinks reception immediately following the conference.

The Retrofit Scotland team spoke to a range of people with an interest in refurbishment at the conference, including academics, researchers and practitioners.

Retrofit Scotland are also supporting an upcoming conference on Thursday 22nd September. ‘Sustainable Health Scotland’ is being held at the Jubilee Conference Centre, Glasgow. Sustainable Health Scotland 2016 will address the role of sustainable development within Scotland’s health services focusing on the shift to a preventative system. It is part of a long-term campaign on behalf of NHS National Services Scotland to address health inequalities and patient services via the role of sustainable development.

The programme includes sessions on climate change and public health, energy efficiency and fuel poverty, resilient cities, healthy eating, sustainable travel, green space and lighting – therefore covering a wide aspect of built environment topics which affect health and wellbeing. Retrofit Scotland are looking forward to attending the presentation and workshop sessions, and engaging with healthcare delegates on the topic of refurbishment and the health benefits that can be achieved.
